I have around 300 published posts on VHE, some of which date back to 2010. In an effort to get organised and make sure all my posts are still current, I’m going through them all one by one (no, it isn’t time consuming at all ;-)) and updating as necessary.
One of the great things about being your own boss, is that when your husband is asked to attend a conference in Monte Carlo with his work (at rather short notice) you can go with him, set up your own little office in the hotel restaurant and have a nice little working holiday.
Although I spent most of my time working, there is nothing to complain about, firstly because I love my work and secondly, this was the view from my ‘office’ My office also had waiter service and an extensive menu, which was rather lovely. I also managed to get a in a little wander around the shops and a couple of hours on the beach.
We had a lovely time; beautiful weather, nice romantic walks and drinks overlooking the harbour. Other than that, I’m going to be honest and say that Monte Carlo didn’t really do that much for me.
Parts of it are indeed beautiful and of course there is money everywhere, but I needed more touristy things to do – I need old things to wander around and take pictures of and beautiful buildings to look at.
I was surprised at just how built-up Monte Carlo was, for every glamorous hotel by the beach there were five more huge hotel blocks from the 60’s overshadowing them.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m very much glad that I went, but it isn’t somewhere I would be rushing back to.
