There is something incredibly exciting about finding an album of photographs that you had completely forgotten about – especially when they tell the story of an Instagram mission my Mum and I went on during my last trip to the UK.
We took a drive on a lovely day and explored the local fields and churchyards. People tend to have pretty mixed reactions when I tell them that I love checking out churchyards and old graves, but I find them so peaceful and it is an inevitable part of life of course!
I nearly always end up in tears after reading the inscriptions on the gravestones. I want to have a go at gravestone rubbing one of these days. Not sure what I’ll do with them yet, but you can hardly see what has been carved on some of the older stones and it would be lovely to conserve them.
We started off in Canewdon at the Church of Saint Nicholas, we had a quick look at the Crouch before making our way to Paglesham to see the Church of Peter.
It is really is such a lovely part of the world and Mum and I had such a great time exploring. I’m so glad I found these – especially as I haven’t seen green like this for a while!
