I heard about a new De Vere hotel opening in Nottingham and was rather curious, I managed to get us a super deal of £19 for the night (awesome!), plus we had the car, so it was perfect as there was free parking, so while we were visiting our wonderful friends in Nottingham, this is where we stayed.
The Orchard is an impressive and individual looking hotel in the grounds of the University of Nottingham. We checked in at 8.30pm and had no problem finding a parking space. The reception area is large and light (and still has that lovely ‘new’ smell coming from the carpets) Very efficient check-in, we were given a card with hotel information on it – relevant timings, wifi password, gym and pool locations etc.
The room itself was well-proportioned, immaculate and filled with high quality, modern furniture, that gave it a fresh boutique type hotel feel. We were in room 139 and had a feature wall, decorated with a pretty forest mural.
The bed was big and very comfortable, large flat screen TV with a great selection of channels to watch (via freeview), high-speed wifi, black-out curtains, ironing facilities, safe, hairdryer, kettle etc.
The bathroom had a large modern sink and walk-in double shower, had a bit of a spa type feel to it, good quality products and fluffy towels.
Two tiny niggles – the only mirror was in the bathroom, which was rather inconvenient as were both trying to get ready at the same time. Also the door to our room was very stiff, we did think at one point that we may have to ring down and ask for help, but we got it in the end. (after receiving feedback the hotel are going to install mirrors into the bedrooms).
Overall this was the best value for money hotel room we have ever had and will be our first choice the next time we stay in Nottingham.
