My trip to Budapest was booked back in the middle of December and there was no way I was going to cancel it. So I dragged my sorry arse out of bed for the first time in six days, headed to the airport and after spending a bit of time getting to know a ‘sick bag’, I arrived in Budapest. I then collapsed into bed and slept for a very long time.
And with that, I promise not to write anything else about being ill. In fact let’s treat my immune system like a child having a tantrum. Let’s just ignore it and go about our business, perhaps if no one is paying it any attention, it will get bored and start behaving itself.
So far I can tell you four things about Budapest…
- The taxi drivers are very good-looking. I am basing this entire generalisation on the one taxi I took from the airport, but I have high hopes now from the Hungarian capital.
- My bed at the art’otel is huge and super comfy.
- The view from my hotel room is quite frankly awesome (see above picture!). I seem to be having an excellent run of hotel room views at the moment and I love it.
- There is a bright yellow bus IN the river (also shown in above picture!). It is moving/driving/sailing so I don’t think it’s the Hungarian equivalent of a shopping trolley having been dumped, nonetheless, it’s not something that you see everyday, so I thought I would mention it.
The sun is shining, I have a fresh new guide-book to scribble all over and I’m off to explore my 27th country.
