THE WEEK WE WENT TO MALCESINE

My goodness what a week Phil and I are having.  It starting with me getting a series of migraines that had me curled up in the foetal position, sobbing my eyes out and damning the entire world, then we quickly progressed to Phil attempting to remove the stone from an avocado and instead slashing open his hand.

So, while we might not be out exploring, we have been planning our trip to Dublin.  There is so much to see and do, I don’t know how we’re going to fit it all in.

While I was reading through old blog posts, I realised that I haven’t finished telling you about our trip to Italy.

We started off in Milan (which I’ve written about before), then travelled via train to Verona, where we caught a bus to Malcesine.  It took a good few hours, but was worth it.  It was a much cheaper option, not to mention the incredibly beautiful scenery that we passed through, the road cutting through villages clinging to the lake sides before plunging down next to the lake shore and opening up the views from our coach seats.

Located on the Eastern Shore of Lake Garda, Malcesine is exactly as beautiful as it sounds. We stayed at the Wellness Hotel Casa Barca, which was without a doubt, worth every penny.

To start with this was the view from our room…

Spa, swimming pool, beautiful gardens, rooftop terrace, wonderful breakfasts, great little bar and free wifi! I mean seriously, what else can you ask for?!

As we were there for the wedding for close friends, we did a lot less sightseeing than we would normally, but it was wonderful to spend time with fantastic people and eat and drink our way around the town!

Malcesine is a beautiful place, but as you’d expect from the Italian Lakes it is somewhat pricey, we had a lovely time with friends, but I think if we had been on our own, an over-night stay would have been perfect.

These photos are lovely and remind me of when we were there. I remember swimming in the lake looking at the mountains thinking how breathtaking it was. Malcesine is a perfect place for a wedding 🙂
