Quick, give me another way of saying ‘Fast Food’
Did you say Junk Food?, I bet you did, most of the people I asked said exactly that. It seems weird that something that actually has ‘junk’ in the title, should be so very popular. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not judging, I eat a fair amount myself.
But if I am going to eat it, I want it to be a deliberate decision… “my god I really want a Big Mac” rather than, we’ve been driving for 6 hours and our only choice for lunch is a greasy burger or a greasy burger. Eating Junk Food because I HAVE to, takes all the fun out of it.
As I am obsessed with being on-time, I often arrive very early for things, which is why I seem to spend a huge amount of my life waiting at Eurotunnel terminals. You can imagine my happiness when LEON opened up at the Folkestone Eurotunnel terminal. No more Burger King for me, oh no, now I can eat food that is healthy and delicious (which leaves me guilt free to pick up bars of Dairy Milk on the way back to Belgium).
Up until this year, LEON have only had branches in London, so if you don’t spend a lot of time in the big smoke, you probably won’t know who they are. But they are hoping to expand out to the rest of the UK and beyond, which I am really excited about.
We opened Leon because we wanted to prove that it was possible to serve food that both tastes good and does you good. We want to make it easy for people to eat well on the high street. We want to do this in every major city in the world…
Yeah, I’m pretty sure you nailed it LEON. They do a delicious selection of Mediterranean influenced food, there are chicken and chorizo hot boxes, pots of flatbread and hummus, Kofte Salads, Thai Curries… I could go on and on, or you could have a look at the menu on their website, which is probably easier for all of us.
I love that their fries are baked, I love that the menu changes each quarter so that the dishes reflect what is actually in season and I love how bright and airy and fresh the inside of their restaurants feel. I really do love the whole bloody thing.
But, as much as I love LEON, I’d really like to see them have some competition, we need more quick and healthy options for people to choose from.
Have you tried LEON? Do you know of any other Healthy Fast Food restaurants we should be checking out?
*just in case you’re wondering, no this isn’t sponsored, I just really like LEON and wanted to share it with you!
