Mum and I could not have wished for a more glorious day to go and explore Battlesbridge. A tiny village on the banks of the River Crouch, we decided to pay a visit to the fabulous Battlesbridge Antiques Centre and have a mooch around.
I think I said “Oh My God; I need that” about a hundred times (sorry Mum), except as I had no way of getting things back to Belgium and as we’ll be moving soon and I have no idea what furniture we will actually be needing, I came away completely empty handed.
We made our way over the bridge to take in the scenery, I just love the shape of the mill, what a fantastic building. I had to go inside and check it out, plus I saw a sign for a tea-room with great views, so you know I couldn’t resist going in there.
We walked through three more floors of fabulous antiques and collectables to reach one of the cutest cafes I have ever seen. Plus you could see out over the river and the beautiful surrounding areas. My cream tea was lovely and Mum seemed very happy with her bacon sandwich.
Mum and I had such a giggle; I’m not going to lie, it is days like this that make me really miss not living closer to my family.
